CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Here’s some information about craniosacral therapy.

At Touch Therapy, we practice biodynamic craniosacral therapy — following the tradition of Charles Ridley, author of Silence and Stillness. Our team trained with Abha Jeevan Sajwel, a renowned expert in this discipline, and we’re also inspired by the work of Albína Flanderová.

FAQ

What is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-invasive method that helps bring the craniosacral system — which includes the cranium, sacrum, cerebrospinal fluid, nervous system, and related structures — back into balance. The therapist tunes in to your body’s innate ability to heal, following its signals with a sensitive, restful, and accepting touch.

Cerebrospinal fluid, or CSF, is a clear liquid that bathes the brain and spinal cord. It protects them from shock, assists in waste removal, maintains their proper environment, and moves in a gentle, rhythmic flow alongside the movement of the cranial bones. Our therapists help ease blockages and foster a healthy flow, reducing nervous tension and improving circulation.

Craniosacral therapy addresses not only physical complaints but also your emotional and energetic well-being. The hands become a way to feel into your body’s deep rhythms, release resistance, ease stress, and enable healing. This approach can aid in relaxation, muscle relaxation, stress reduction, trauma release, pain relief, headaches, and much more — all while strengthening your body’s ability to repair itself. A rested nervous system brings peace, renewal, and a greater ability to appreciate life.

This process happens in a space of deep trust, compassion, and care — honoring your body’s own ability to heal. Often, we simply need a gentle reminder that everything is fine just as it is — being okay just the way we are.

That’s the main idea behind Touch Therapy.

Everything is fine as it is — there’s no need to rush.

When does it help?

Craniosacral biodynamic therapy can help:

  • ease physical and psychological tension
  • regulate and regenerate the nervous system
  • ease muscle stiffness and back pain
  • reduce stress, ease nervousness, promote relaxation
  • enable us to connect more deeply with ourselves
  • ease headaches, release blockages, ease trauma
  • aid in navigating difficult emotions and fears
  • ease painful periods, aid in recovery, and much more
  • ease chronic fatigue and exhaustion
  • improve sleep
  • release jaw tension
  • foster deep peace, renewal, and transformation

When we let ourselves rest and ease into peace, we feel better — and when we feel better, we make better choices. Everyone around us feels it, too. This is the magic of craniosacral therapy.

How does it work?

Before each treatment, we sit down together with a cup of tea. You tell us what’s going on in your life — how you feel and what you need. This consultation usually lasts about 20 minutes. Then, you can lie down on the table under a warm blanket (with additional warmth in the colder months).

Using gentle, restful, non-invasive methods, we enable your nervous system to ease and let go, allowing your body’s own healing mechanisms to take over. Each treatment is completely tailored to your current state — honoring your process without pressure.

Recommendation

After your treatment, we recommend drinking plenty of water and avoiding strenuous activity. Take a walk in nature, practice yoga, or simply rest — whatever feels nourishing for you.

How often you come is up to you, but we suggest starting with a treatment once a month until your condition stabilises, and then reducing sessions to match your ongoing needs.

Contraindications
  • Active cancer
  • Epilepsy or other serious neurological disorders (with your clinician’s approval)
